Stange things at the parade...

So Lorri always takes the beautifully artistic pictures of everything...and I just like to take pictures of strange things, in a non-artistic way. At the 4th of July parade yesterday, in our town, I found the funniest and scariest participant I think I have ever seen (a close 2nd was the lady leading a class of "Jazzersizers" in the parade). I will let you judge for yourself...
What do you think? Pretty scary huh? Does that make you want to get your hair cut there? I guess I will give them props for creativity!

Now here are my kids with their crazy friends watching fireworks from the grocery store parking lot. I know, we could go to the country club and lay on the grass with the rest of our town, but we have a 7 year tradition of watching from the back of our cars in the parking lot. It is great...bathrooms, shopping and no bugs! I hope you all had a great 4th of July like we did.

We both follow the blog www.dooce.com. Knowing that Heather was about to give birth...when we heard about her baby girl's arrival...we had to send a Z. Daisy Gift Set! I am sure she has people doing stuff for her because there is no way she is sitting at home sending thank you notes to random strangers who send her stuff...but still...it was really nice. Binkie Bungees...

We have people ask us if our Binkie Bungees (pacifier clips) attach to all different types of pacifiers...and we are here to tell you YES!! Fun Idea to Honor Volunteers at Your School...Room Parents Rock Luncheon!

It is so hard to keep school functions fun and creative but this year...we did. We wanted to honor the room parents at our school with a special luncheon, but wanted the theme to be fun and different. So - we did "Room Parents Rock" and the decor...well...you will see below. We had a lot of fun creating the pet rocks and card packs for all of the ladies that attended. Maybe this will spark some creative ideas that you can share with us about how you honor volunteers at your school! Volunteers REALLY do rock! (Do you like the "bedazzled" rock below?

Flea Market Finds & Garbage Picks

It's that time of year again!  I love our local flea markets - they're actually open all year round, but I'm not much for braving the winter weather.  When the temperatures start to rise I definitely get the itch to be a Flea Marketer again.  Here's a little inspiration (or not) for those of you on the hunt for cool stuff!  Of course, I'm an idiot and didn't take before pictures... what was I thinking??!!  You'll just have to trust me that both these pieces are completely transformed. =)  

Here's a picture of a bookcase that used to be in the old school library at an elementary school in our downtown area.  I actually got this at a neighborhood garage sale last year.  My hubby wasn't so happy at first... since it didn't fit in my van and he had to go back and strap it to the top or our suburban to get it home.  I finally got around to painting it last week and figured out how to get the shelves to stay in place - all it took was a quart of paint and some hardware to get it looking fresh again.  Now that my husband's books are going to have a nice new home, I'm thinking he's had a change of heart.

This one is actually a garbage pick... totally free!  I love FREE!  All it needed was some fresh paint and new hardware, so for $30 I got a pretty nice piece of furniture!  It's in the hallway at the top of our stairs and will soon be the home for that awesome lamp there on the left.
